Luxury Signature Facial aftercare: 48-hour do’s and don’ts

By Vida Bel Beauty Spa by Adi | August 4, 2026

A lot of people tell us they leave their facial feeling glowy and that the whole appointment feels calming and gentle. To keep that fresh, hydrated look, the biggest rule is simple: for the first 48 hours, keep your skin quiet. Skip heavy makeup, direct sun, and hard workouts, and stick to gentle cleansing, moisturizer, and SPF.

Luxury Signature Facial aftercare guide: 48-hour do's and don'ts in Encino

Our Luxury Signature Facial is an 80-minute service ($150) with deep cleansing, extractions (when your skin needs them), facial massage, a premium mask, scalp massage, moisturizer, and SPF. It’s designed to give you that “I can see the difference right away” finish people talk about. Aftercare is how you protect it, especially here in Encino where sun and heat can undo your progress fast.

If you remember one thing: cool, gentle, and protected skin for 48 hours. That means SPF daily and no “let me just scrub this off” moments.

The first 24 to 48 hours: keep the glow, avoid the flare-ups

Right after a facial, your skin is clean, hydrated, and a little more reactive than usual. That’s a good thing. It means products sink in better, but it also means heat, friction, and “active” ingredients can irritate you faster.

Do this

  • Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water. No hot water, no scrubbing.
  • Moisturize to lock in that hydrated, refreshed feel people notice immediately after our facial.
  • Wear broad-spectrum SPF every morning. In Encino’s sunny stretches on Ventura Blvd, a quick errand can turn into an hour in the sun without you realizing it.
  • Keep it cool on the drive home. If you’re hopping on the 101 back toward Sherman Oaks, Studio City, or North Hollywood, aim the AC away from your face and avoid touching your skin in traffic.

Skip this

  • Heavy makeup for 24 hours, especially if we did extractions. Let the skin breathe.
  • Strenuous exercise, saunas, and steam rooms for 24 to 48 hours. Sweat and heat tend to trigger redness.
  • Hot showers and hot yoga for the first day or two. Heat is sneaky irritation.
  • Picking. If you feel a tiny bump after extractions, hands off. We’ll tell you exactly what to do instead.

We’re big on explaining each step during your facial, and aftercare works the same way. If we sent you home with a specific serum or instruction, follow that first. That’s the plan for your skin.

Days 3 to 7: when “too much” skincare steals your results

People love that smooth, refreshed finish after our Luxury Signature Facial. We hear “bright, ” “hydrated, ” and “rejuvenated” a lot. The fastest way to lose it is going right back to strong products because your skin feels so clean.

The 72-hour rule for actives

Hold off on retinol, acids, and exfoliation for at least 72 hours. That includes retinoids, glycolic, lactic, salicylic, enzyme exfoliants, and abrasive scrubs. Even if you “normally tolerate it, ” post-facial skin often reacts differently.

Sun and sweat still matter after day two

Encino summers are hot and bright, and that combo is hard on freshly treated skin. For the first week, keep reapplying SPF if you’re outside and try to avoid peak heat. If you’re heading to Los Encinos Park, make it an early morning or later evening plan, and bring a hat. Your glow lasts longer when your skin stays protected.

Post-facial care products: the simple routine we actually want you doing

After your Luxury Signature Facial, think basics. Clean. Hydrate. Protect. If you do those three well, your skin usually stays balanced and glowy for days, which is exactly what our regulars love.

  • Gentle cleanser: no fragrance-heavy foam, no exfoliating beads. You shouldn’t feel tight after washing.
  • Moisturizer: choose one that calms and supports your barrier. If your skin feels “unbelievably smooth” after the facial, this helps keep it that way.
  • Broad-spectrum SPF: every single morning. Reapply if you’re outdoors, driving a lot, or sitting near windows.
  • Optional add-on once you’re past 72 hours: if you’re restarting retinol or acids, go slow. A little is plenty at first.

And if you’re commuting in from Tarzana, Van Nuys, or Reseda, toss SPF and a clean face towel in your bag. Keeping your hands off your face in the car sounds small, but it makes a real difference.

Redness, bumps, and “is this normal?”: when to text or call us

A little redness right after a facial is common, especially if we did extractions. It usually settles within a few hours and often looks noticeably calmer by the next day. Some people also feel extra smooth and hydrated right away, then notice a tiny bit of dryness if they skip moisturizer or SPF. That’s an easy fix.

“I feel so rejuvenated and refreshed when I leave and I am glowing for days.”

Reach out to us if you have redness that lasts longer than 48 hours, swelling, increasing discomfort, or anything that feels unusual for your skin. We’re thorough during your appointment on Ventura Blvd in Encino, and we’ll be just as thorough after you leave.

If you’re planning your next visit, our team can also point you to the best timing, especially during hot months. Early morning and evening appointments tend to be kinder to your skin, and you avoid that midday heat on the way home.

If we did extractions, give your skin at least 24 hours before wearing heavier makeup. A light, breathable option is usually fine after that, but keep your first full-coverage day gentle and make sure you remove it with a mild cleanser.

We generally recommend skipping strenuous workouts for 24 to 48 hours. Heat and sweat can stir up redness and irritation, especially right after a deep cleanse and extractions.

Wait at least 72 hours before restarting retinol, acids (like glycolic, lactic, or salicylic), enzyme exfoliants, or scrubs. When you bring them back, start slowly so you don’t overdo it on freshly treated skin.

Mild redness can be normal, especially after extractions. It often calms down within a few hours and usually looks much better by the next day. If redness lasts beyond 48 hours, you notice swelling, or it feels unusually uncomfortable, reach out to us so we can guide your next steps.

In hot, sunny Encino weather, treat SPF like part of your skincare, not an extra step. Avoid peak heat for the first couple of days, skip saunas and hot yoga, and plan outdoor time earlier or later in the day. If you’re driving home on the 101, keep the car cool and try not to touch your face in traffic.
